Whispering Pines is one of the 32 official neighborhood focus areas recognized by the City of Port St. Lucie, on the southeast side of the city in the 34952 zip code. This is the part of Port St. Lucie that runs toward the North Fork of the St. Lucie River, and it is home to a city park of the same name.
What Homes Are Like in Whispering Pines
The southeast side holds some of the city’s best value in established single-family homes: full-size lots, mature landscaping, and homeowners associations that are the exception rather than the rule. It is also where a lot of the city’s canal and ocean-access inventory sits, so it is worth asking early whether a given street backs onto water and, if so, whether that water actually reaches the river. Given the vintage, roof year, electrical panel, plumbing material and window ratings are the four items that will shape both your offer and your insurance quote.
Location and Getting Around
US-1 runs along the eastern edge of this part of the city, putting Stuart, Jensen Beach and the Treasure Coast beaches within a reasonable drive. Sandpiper Bay, the river and the Club Med resort are nearby, and I-95 is accessible heading west across the city.

- Roof age and insurance. On homes of this vintage the roof drives the insurance quote more than anything else. Get a quote before you are under contract, not after.
- Water and sewer. Parts of this side of Port St. Lucie were on well and septic for years. Confirm what the address has and whether a city connection is required or available.
- Flood zone. It changes block to block here. Always pull the flood determination for the exact parcel.
- Permit history. Older homes often have additions, enclosures or sheds. Make sure what is there was permitted.
