Living at the Colonnades
The Colonnades is a social, 55+ community on the river side of the island. Residents use the clubhouse, pool and courts, keep boats at the community dock, and watch the boat traffic on the Intracoastal from their balconies.
It is one of the closest island communities to downtown Fort Pierce, about 5 to 7 minutes over the South Causeway, and South Jetty Park and the beach are about 3 minutes away.
The community is split into numbered condominium associations, each with its own building and board, under shared amenities.
Buying at the Colonnades
Because each building is its own association, compare dues, reserves and rules between buildings, not just units. Ask for the budget, reserve study, milestone inspection and any special assessments for the building you are buying in. These 1970s buildings fall under Florida's newer condo inspection and reserve rules.
At least one occupant usually must meet the 55+ age rule. Ask the association about approval, rental limits, pets and how boat slips are assigned.
