Before You Buy a Pool Home

It can. Insurers look at the pool, the screen enclosure and safety features, and some charge more or require a fence, alarm or cover. Get insurance quotes early, before your inspection period ends.
Does Florida require a pool safety barrier?
Florida's Residential Swimming Pool Safety Act requires new residential pools to have at least one safety feature, such as a barrier, an approved safety cover, or door and window alarms. Older pools may not meet today's rules, so ask your inspector and insurer.
What should I check on a pool before I buy?
Have the pool inspected along with the home, including the pump, filter, heater, surface, plumbing, electrical bonding and the screen enclosure. Ask the age of the pool finish and equipment.
